Duke’s mom was facing an overwhelming crisis.
Last fall, she reached out to us with a plea for help. She shared that she was unemployed and searching for work while facing homelessness. The place she’d been staying would no longer be an option much longer. As eviction loomed, her biggest worry was Duke.
She wrote, “My dog deserves a better life than what I can provide at this moment. He is a sweet baby.”
Through our Pets in Crisis Support Program, Duke was placed in a loving foster home where he could be safe and cared for while his mom worked to regain stability. During his stay, he was neutered and vaccinated so he’d be ready for a fresh start when they were reunited.

When Duke’s mom has moved into her own apartment, we covered the pet deposit so he could immediately return home. Today, he is right where he belongs.
From the look on Duke’s face when he saw her again, there was no doubt how he felt.
This kind of support is only possible because fosters and donors step up for pets and the people who love them. If you’d like to help keep families together during their hardest chapters, visit the Pets in Crisis Support Program’s page to learn more.
